Derek Croft
I began painting and drawing in earnest when I was fourteen. Harold Riley came to teach at my school and I was chosen to attend his Saturday art classes. I was given a set of oils and other art materials by my brother before he returned to his ship H.M.S. Eagle.
I worked in engineering and later in the chemical industry before taking early retirement to look after my wife. This has allowed me to devote more time to my art and my paintings. My subjects include portraits, animals, still life and landscapes.
I have exhibited at various venues including the Colin Jellicoe Gallery, Eccles Community Art Gallery and other local galleries.
