A breakdown of some ideas for pictures from the story
At the back is Albert (Billy's brother). Bill (Billy's son, and Emily (Billy's daughter - and Tony G's mum) at the front.
The woman is Bella's (Billy's wife) mother. We are unsure who the three girls are as Bella had 9 siblings.
The Ballad of Billy Unsworth
The club has been approached by Graham Walker to provide some drawings/paintings for a book he is writing on Billy Unsworth a Salford Lad at Home and War. After an interesting talk at the club last night a number of members have shown an interest.
I have posted the story so far here as well as some pictures and links. It is proposed that we have a meeting to discus a style that links all our work. If any members are interested in joining this venture if they could let me know at [email protected]
I will add you to the list.
After a fantastic turn out for the commemorative tiles and the Salford Quays project this seems to be an excellent opportunity for the club and we hope several members will be able to contribute.
The drawings etc. can be anything linked to the story, where he lived or worked, not just war scenes.
The images are of Billy during Boer War then WW1, plus the SS Ionic (the ship he travelled to Gallipoli on), Billy with his Company prior to leaving the UK and a couple of images of Gallipoli itself, one with the lads I went with in 2015 (to set the scene) and a landscape picture of the land Billy had to scale prior to being killed.
Graham has many more images and will bring a lap top and share them when we can arrange a time.
