A big thank you from the 2nd year Fine Art students collective “ Effergy Art “ at the University of Bolton. The contributions from members of Salford Art club helped swell the total number of artwork offered at auction to over 100. A last minute change of date did not derail the students endeavors. Brilliant teamwork delivered £214 into the kitty for funding their exhibition in May 2017. All items were auctioned anonymously. Lots of banter and good hearted rival bidding. Top price paid was £28. Unsold items will be offered for sale at the next fund raising event. ( probably Valentine’s Day stall in Chancellors Mall) This initiative is part of the module “ Employability and Enterprise”, to prepare students for life in the Art world after graduation. Another great night at the annual meal . A good attendance and good food. An interesting quiz and lots of lively conversation. A point that was brought up by the chairman's speech; " Painting can be a solitary time and the Wednesday night club gives artists a chance to meet and chat with a friendly, like minded people ." On a side note we also make a profit from our sale of teas and coffees - a feat not always accomplished by beverage companies. Amazing what you can learn! Looking forward to next year and the continued success of the club. Our patron, Geoffrey Key, was good enough to donate a prize of a book on The Northern School and fortunately didn't win it himself. Lots of other prizes, although it was interesting to note that the wine and chocolates went before the easel! |
